Joel finally showed me what he meant by Spinning last Fri and it essentially is a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), which is what my cardio days are meant to be. Quick and easy 15 min gym session that makes you feel like you’ve been in there for an hour or so.

By the way, I am now on BIGO Live under the handle melfann so do add me because I will go ‘live’ during all these workouts because it’s a lot more interactive. I try to go ‘live’ on Facebook too but few people interact with me there so BIGO it shall be!! It’s quite fun and motivational when I receive hearts and virtual beers (lol).

Anyway, back to the main point. So this is what I did for 15 minutes:

  • Cycle and increase resistance until it’s tough but still doable and not too taxing
  • Go at full speed for 45 seconds
  • “Rest” by doing at low speed for 15 seconds
  • Repeat the full speed

Studies have shown that doing HIIT burns more fats and gives you the same workout benefits as jogging for an hour. Let’s be efficient people and just do this simple cardio! My cardio days are Mon, Wed and Fri while strength training on Tue and Thu. It’s a bit difficult to push yourself for sure and I’m also wondering whether my posture would be off without Joel around but personal trainers shouldn’t need to be at your every workout. It’s more about self-discipline!
