Received a box of Avalon Stem Cell Beauty Drinks thanks to SampleStore and I’ve always had a slight fascination for such drinks because I believe that we are what we consume. Thus, wouldn’t it kinda make sense that if we drank and ate well, it’ll show up on our faces? As a woman, the vain part of me naturally wants it to reflect on my face.
Avalon™ Stem Cell Beauty Drink is the first beauty drink in Singapore that contains Young Orchid Stem Cells. It also contains Litchi Seed Extract, Premium French Marine Collagen and a combination of Fruit Extracts, where taken together is supposed to help:
– Repair and rejuvenate damaged skin cells
– Hydrate dry skin
– Brightens dull skin
– Tighten pores
– Tighten sagging skin
– Reduce appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
Resolving 6 major skin problems with just one product! They also claim that results will show after 7 days of consecutive consumption, after which one just maintain with 1 bottle every other day. What makes this beauty drink different from the rest is that it is sparkling!
Intrigued?
So I started on my Avalon Stem Cell Beauty Drink Journey and I have to say that I love the taste and the sparkling texture! Really did make me look forward to sipping each 50ml but yet sad when I finished it really quickly. Just like the photo at the top, I found that chilling it or drinking it with ice really felt like I was drinking soft drink…but with good ingredients for my skin! I also liked that it tastes only of lychee/fruit and no fishy smell from the collagen.
Ok…onto the science part. Let’s see what is inside this drink that is supposed to help with the skin and whether there is any scientific basis for this.
Collagen – I’ve mentioned this before in a few posts that collagen is simply protein. So if you’re not eating enough protein, drinking collagen will definitely help boost your skin’s elasticity because your body finally can use the amino acids to do more than just repair muscles/skin. This has been verified by a doctor.
Orchid Stem Cell – ok…this is really the intriguing part for me. I’m not sure how stem cells react in your stomach and gut, so I did a bit of research. But before I do that, some of you might be going “What is a stem cell?” Essentially, a stem cell is the base cell which has not specialised into any function yet. Thus, it can be ‘moulded’ to become any sort of cells. I’ve used a stem cell serum before and it works wonders…but I digress. That was applied onto the skin. Now, we’re talking about consumption of stem cells. In this answer by a Stem Cell Scientist, consuming stem cells is just another form of consuming nutrients. After all, the food we eat are all made up of cells. Avalon doesn’t deny this. In fact, the reason that they use young orchid cells is because orchids have traditionally used to promote good health and cure diseases by the ancient Chinese and Aztecs. Furthermore, orchids are known to have anti-oxidant properties. Now THAT I’m familiar with.
Litchi Seed Extract – another anti-oxidant.
Fruit Extracts – I’m sure this is just for flavour and perhaps a bit more vitamins.
Essentially, each bottle is to pack in all the good stuff into 50ml because drinking collagen alone isn’t enough if you do not add in nutrients as nutrients are the ‘food’ for cells to grow healthily. That is also why Avalon suggests drinking a bottle just before bedtime as cells repair themselves at night while you have your (all pun intended) beauty sleep.
It has been 9 days since I’ve drunk Avalon’s Stem Cell Beauty Drink…so what are the results? Just like most foods/supplements, I don’t think a week is long enough to see full effects. However, I do notice that I don’t wake up feeling that my skin is very dry and the anti oxidants have helped me get a bit of my energy levels up. It’s quite a delicious way to take my supplements for sure!
